The Alaris 8120 PCA Module combines efficiency and safety in delivering pain management medications. The doses are based on the patient's prescription, but safety measures based on medical best practices are in place. A Hard dosage limit is predefined by the facility and cannot be overridden. While a Soft dosage limit is a predefined limit that can be modified by the user.
When a syringe is inserted, the instrument automatically detects its size and fluid volume. The PCA module can accept syringe sizes ranging from 1mL to 60 mL. And the machine will automatically stop if it detects an empty syringe.
A four-character security code feature controls access to setting the amount of doses and modifying pre-set programming. It also keeps track of patient history such as total amount of drug delivered, the manner it was delivered (continuous/Bolus), and even when the history was last cleared. It can store these information for up to 24 hours.
