GE Datex Ohmeda Aespire S5 can come with either a 7900 SmartVent or 7100 SmartVent. The SmartVent ventilators feature dual airway overpressure protection, protection from over volume-delivery, proprietary hose connections and fixed manifolds, and 10 VA electrical power limiting to potential oxygen enriched environment. The 7100 SmartVent comes with Ventilating Monitor Board as its interface and the 7900 SmartVent comes with Enhanced Sensor Interface Board as its interface. Both ventilators are equipped with back-up battery packs for emergency power that can run for 30 minutes.
It has an upgradeable software and a customizable, intuitive interface that allows users to choose the functions depending on their ventilation needs. Its standard software includes Volume Control ventilation, integrated volume and oxygen monitoring, electronic PEEP, and alarm management. It also has optional suction control, auxiliary O2 supplies and additional oxygen source, Pressure Mode and waveform, and Tidal Volume Compensation. The anesthesia machine supports low flow anesthesia and a minimum 50 mL/min O2 flow with dual flow tubes, but it also has individual flow controls. It's a low-maintenance machine, only requiring a yearly maintenance check.
