The Medfusion 4000 Syringe Pump is has a compact design, is lightweight, and can work well in an ambulatory setting. It can adapt to meet the different kinds of patient care needs. It can accommodate syringes with size ranging from 1 mL to 60 mL. With the use of its intuitive PharmGuard, it can be configured using a PC. The configuration contains global settings for the device, profile definitions that set limits on dosage, predefined delivery or drug programs, and syringe definitions.
An IR port can be found at the rear of the pump, which can send and receive data to assist in history data management. It is also capable of establishing a wireless connection to keep its firmware up to date, and to download its infusion settings and events history for later use. This feature allows the healthcare provider to check for trends in the usage of the instrument.
As a counter measure for safety and accuracy, the software checks any data it receives from the keyboard encoder. It will disregard any data that is not a valid key press.
