The Olympus CLV-S40 Xenon Light Source uses a 300-Watt Xenon bulb to provide the ideal illumination for endoscopic TV observation. It is equipped with an automatic brightness control when it connects to a camera console, eliminating the need to manually adjust the brightness settings and saving time and energy for the user. Another cost-saving feature is its Standby mode with a reduced light output, which prolongs life of the bulb and helps avoid accidental burns. This feature can be activated either by using the switch on the front panel or through a remote switch on the camera head.

Its Xenon bulb can be used continuously for 500 hours (approximate), and a built-in lamp life meter helps anticipate when the lamp would need a replacement. This helps ensure that the Olympus CLV-S40 is available for use whenever the need arises.
