The Gambro Phoenix Dialysis Machine is designed to deliver both high and low-flux hemodialysis to patients weighing 33 pounds (15 kg) and up. It automatically performs machine safety tests before each treatment, and runs safety tests every morning. It is built with a touchscreen which provides easy user interface. To reduce health risks, it has built-in tools that help in patient monitoring. For example, its Compensated Blood Flow function displays actual blood flow pressure during treatment with an accuracy of +/- 10%. Additionally, its DIASCAN Monitoring System measures Ionic Clearance and Plasma Conductivity during treatment. This feature helps detect potential blood circuit issues, and is automatically calibrated everyday.
It is also equipped with a standard Ethernet port, allowing it to connect to a local network and access electronic medical records. This feature is useful when combined with its EXALIS Dialysis Management Tool since it integrates with patient prescription downloads.
