The Toshiba Aquilion 32 is a precision 32-Slice head and whole-body computed tomography (CT) scanner designed to obtain high-resolution images over a wide range of applications, e.g., advanced cardiac clinical detection, diagnosis, and care. High-powered, compact, and versatile, the Aquilion 32 is a CT scanner that is equipped with Toshiba's premium technologies adapted for delivering unparalleled image quality and lightning quick scanning capabilities.
The Aquilion 32 features a 64-row Quantum Detector designed to produce 32 simultaneous slices of 0.5 mm and 1 mm to provide true isotropic resolution with each gantry revolution. The Quantum Detector is manufactured using a ceramic material designed to reduce the noise and decrease the radiation dose while sustaining a high image quality.
The CT scanner is also designed to acquire a large volume of isotropic data in a short period of time. It can also acquire isotropic data sets of any part of the body with a single breath-hold. The images are reconstructed with essentially the same dimension so as to allow viewing of the acquired data from any direction without a reduction in the image quality.
The Toshiba CT scanner utilizes a patented helical cone-beam reconstruction method for axial image reconstruction based on the helical scans. It selectively incorporates data close to the image reconstruction plane, reduces the cone-angle effects, and eliminates the artifacts to deliver improved image quality.
