The Pentax EPK-i Video Processor is a multi-function device that produces High Definition images with its high end hardware and software design. It can work both with analog and digital signals, reducing image deterioration due to conversion. In addition to its regular Edge enhancement, advanced features such as Surface Enhancement and Contrast Enhancement are available. These deliver HDTV image quality, but can only be used one at a time. The system can also perform still and fine freeze, displaying brighter and finer images. This is due to its progressive scan technology and faster shutter speed.

It has its own built-in light source, using a 300 watt Xenon lamp to provide the needed illumination for endoscopic examinations and interventions. The lamp can last up to 500 hours of continuous use, and operates at color temperature of 6000 degrees Kelvin. This daylight brightness help produce HD images with true colors.
