The Sorin S5 is a versatile and compact heart-lung machine designed for use in cardiac surgery. The modular design and built-in features of the System S5 enable the platform to be easily configured for current and future needs in the field.
The S5 is designed with improved safety features that emit warnings and automated alarms. These alarms have different alarm tones for each function and are recorded and listed in sequence on the display panel. The S5 is also provided with a UPS which can provide power for two hours and ten minutes in case of power failure (twenty minutes at full load).
The S5 is also designed for ease-of-use, durability, and improved functionality. The speed adjustments are done using a maintenance-free system called the Incremental Encoder. The system menu of the S5 is clearly structured, intuitive, and configured for enhanced user convenience. The system can also be powered up and be ready for operation within three seconds.
The mast system extension is configured to further add to the versatility of the S5. With the use of the mast system extension, the S5 can be used for pediatric and infant/neonate perfusion, can be operated at the patient bedside, and can be swiveled to predetermined positions. The mast system extension is designed to accommodate up to 3 mast roller pumps with separate control units.
