The SonoSite L38 Ultrasound Probe is a linear transducer that emits soundwaves from 10 to 5 MegaHertz and has a scan depth of 6.5 centimeters. It is effectively used in small parts ultrasound to evaluate many of the superficial organs of the body such as the thyroid gland, the neck and the testes and look for signs of disease, and breast ultrasound to screen for lumps, tumors, and other breast abnormalities. It is also used in vascular ultrasound to examine the circulation in the blood vessels of the body and help identify blockages in the arteries and veins, and musculoskeletal ultrasound to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints throughout the body and help diagnose sprains, strains, tears, and other soft tissue conditions. Another of its application is in interventional ultrasound to provide real-time ultrasound imaging and guide diagnostic or therapeutic minimally invasive procedures. It is compatible with the SonoSite Titan, SonoSite 180 PLUS, and SonoSite Heart ultrasound systems.
