The SonoSite D2 Ultrasound Probe is a continuous wave Doppler pedof transducer that operates at a frequency of 2 MHz and is intended to be used with the SonoSite Edge ultrasound system. Its major application is in cardiac ultrasound, also known as echocardiography, to create an image of the heart. It is used to examine the size, shape, and motion of the heart - its four chambers, valves and walls, blood vessels entering and leaving, and its surrounding sac called the pericardium. It also aids in the investigation of chest pain, shortness of breath, hypotension, in evaluating the effects of significant blunt trauma to the chest, and help visualize the heart during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
