The SonoSite C11x Ultrasound Probe is a curved array transducer type working at 8 to 5 MegaHertz. It has a scan depth of 10 centimeters and a trapezoidal field of view. It is used for vascular ultrasound to evaluate arteries or veins in almost any part of the body, including blood vessels in the neck, abdomen, arms and legs. It is also used in nerve ultrasound to detect peripheral nerve disorders. Its other application is in abdominal ultrasound, which scans and displays structures within the upper abdomen, to help diagnose pain or distention (enlargement) and evaluate the gallbladder, liver, bile ducts, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, and abdominal aorta. Additionally, it is used in neonatal ultrasound as initial screening and evaluation of the brains of newborns especially in premature infants who are at risk of intracranial hemorrhage. The SonoSite C11x Ultrasound Probe is compatible with the SonoSite Edge, SonoSite Edge II, SonoSite SII, and SonoSite M-Turbo ultrasound systems.
