The Karl Storz C-MAC 8403ZX Video Laryngoscope Monitor is an enhanced version of its predecessors but still functions as the heart of the C-MAC system. It provides high-resolution imaging with its 7-inch TFT screen and optimized natural color rendering. Device controls have been intentionally replaced by easy-to-use touch keys to facilitate seamless device operation even under difficult circumstances. At its front panel are four control keys that maximize its touchscreen interface and its power button. Its user interface additionally allows a user to conveniently access, review, or remove stored files. It is also capable of projecting its on-screen display into an external monitor through its HDMI port.

The C-MAC 8403ZX monitor allows capture of video sequences and still images in MPEG4 and JPEG format and uses an integrated SD card for digital storage. Its USB port, on the other hand, allows data transfer from the SD card but does not function as a direct-from-recording storage media. The monitor can either use electric of battery power, with its rechargeable lithium-ion batteries lasting up to 2 hours. An intelligent energy management feature allows the monitor to be used during the charging process.
