The Olympus CLV-U40 Xenon Light Source is designed to work with all Olympus endoscopes through its Mode Selector. When combined with the 200 series scopes, it provides approximately 50 percent increased light intensity for clearer and sharper images enabling detailed observation during endoscopic treatments and interventions. It can also instantly adjust its light density for video recording while it automatically configure to optimum exposure on capturing still images. The user can still manually override these settings.

If the examination lamp fails, it is equipped with a halogen emergency lamp which allows surgeons to complete the procedure. The emergency lamp can last up to 500 hours of continuous usage, making it a reliable back-up until the examination lamp is replaced. A smart Malfunction indicator lights up when there is any issue in the emergency system.
